1. Data controller and contact

Savvy Trip Guides is a personal travel project run by Ingrid Maria Steenbergen, the data controller for personal information processed through this project.

You do not need an account or an email signup to read the itineraries or download the free PDFs. This website does not currently offer purchases or newsletter subscriptions.

2. Information collected and its purposes

Website visits and downloads

When you visit a page or download a file, the hosting service processes technical information to deliver and protect the website. This can include your IP address, requested pages and files, access times, browser information, and error or security records. Hosting statistics also summarise visits to the public website.

The purpose is to operate the website, understand its technical use, investigate faults and prevent misuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in maintaining a reliable and secure website.

Email enquiries

If you email me, I receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and any attachments. I use these to respond, handle your request and investigate suggested corrections. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence and maintaining useful guides.

Messages are handled through Gmail. Providing information in an enquiry is voluntary and is not a statutory or contractual requirement, but I need contact details if you would like a reply. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed. Contacting me does not subscribe you to a mailing list.

Optional website analytics

With your consent, I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the guides and improve the website. Measurements include pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type, engagement time, scrolling, PDF download-link clicks and clicks to other websites. A download-link click does not confirm that the download completed.

Analytics uses browser identifiers, so its data is not necessarily anonymous. The website's measurement code excludes email-link clicks and removes query strings and fragments from measured URLs. I do not intentionally send names, email addresses or enquiry contents to Analytics. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in this integration.

The legal basis is your consent. Analytics loads only after you choose Accept analytics, not before a choice or after rejection. You can read the guides and download PDFs without accepting.

You can change your choice using Cookie Settings in the footer. Withdrawal stops future Analytics collection in that browser and removes accessible Analytics cookies. It does not automatically delete information already received by Google or affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Contact me about requests concerning previously collected information.

3. Cookies and browser storage

The website uses browser storage to remember your analytics choice. This is separate from the technical records kept by the hosting service.

Storage needed to remember your choice or support website functions is separate from optional Analytics. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent.

You can also clear cookies and site storage in your browser. Removing the saved preference may make the website ask for your choice again. Choices apply to the browser and device where you make them.

4. Recipients and service providers

The following providers process information as part of their services:

• Blueboard.cz Webhosting s.r.o. provides hosting for savvytripguides.com and processes website information on my behalf. Its responsibilities are described in section 2 of its data-processing terms, which specify processing within the European Union.
• Google provides Gmail for correspondence and Google Analytics for consent-based measurement. Its relevant entities and processing practices are explained in Google's privacy policy.

Authorised provider personnel and their service providers may process information where needed to deliver these services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. International transfers

Google services may involve processing outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google's published transfer information describes reliance on applicable adequacy decisions, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for covered transfers to certified Google entities, and standard contractual clauses where required. Details and information about obtaining copies of the clauses are available in Google's transfer safeguards. See also Google's privacy policy for its entities, locations and processing practices. You may contact me for further information about the arrangements relevant to this project.

6. Retention periods

• Email enquiries: relevant messages, replies and attachments are deleted once no longer needed, normally within six months after resolution. Information needed for an ongoing issue or legal claim may be retained longer where necessary. Useful route corrections may be kept separately without the sender's identifying details. Provider backups may retain copies temporarily after deletion from my mailbox.
• Analytics: user-level and event-level information is retained for 14 months, without restarting user-data retention when someone returns. Google deletes expired records through its monthly deletion process. Standard aggregated reports are not governed by this setting. Cookie and browser-storage durations are listed above.
• Hosting records: Blueboard's published terms limit processing on my behalf to the agreed purposes while a lawful basis exists, and no longer than the hosting relationship lasts. When the relevant processing service ends, information must be deleted or returned unless legislation requires retention. These are contractual limits, not a routine deletion schedule for each record. The published terms do not specify a routine retention period for visitor logs or hosting statistics.

7. External websites and fonts

Fonts are served directly from this website, not requested from Google Fonts.

Links to Mapy.com, Prague Explained and other websites take you to separately operated services. Their privacy information applies when you use them. Downloading a guide does not create a Mapy.com account or subscribe you to another service.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and may have a right to data portability where its legal conditions apply. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Email savvytripguides@gmail.com to make a request. I will normally respond within one month; legally permitted extensions may apply. I may need reasonable information to verify your identity or locate the relevant records. Analytics browser identifiers cannot necessarily be matched to a name or email address, so I may not be able to identify browsing records from those details alone.

You may complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (UOOU) or another competent data protection authority.

9. Automated decision-making

I do not use your information for solely automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.

10. Changes to this notice

This notice will be updated as the website develops or its processing changes. The revision date appears at the top of this page.
